My Everyday Epic
An epic is an adventure that we long to be apart of. It leaves an impact in the world, that says our lives have been well lived. It's our purpose or calling in action if you will.
But all those adventures - the stories we read or watch - are only a small part of those character's lives. They are the brave "yeses" characters and people have made.
But there are more everyday moments that don't get seen. They don't make the stories; they matter, but well, they're boring. No one wants to read about doing the dishes, cleaning the house, assembling a spreadsheet, paying bills or the five diapers we changed and two baths we gave that day. Those don't make the highlight reel, but they need to be done wherever we're at in life.
These everyday moments are exercising the muscles we need in place so we're ready to say 'yes' to the adventures that drop in our laps or when we reach that point where our goals are in reach to take us for the ride of our lives.
The everyday choices are as sacred as our adventures. An argument could be made that they matter more, but we forget that. We want that adventure, our dreams in real life, without the everyday work.
This is encouragement for the discouraged hearts.
Where you're at in life right now, at this moment, as you're reading this, matters. You and your story matters. Move yourself out of the comfortable, train those muscles, get prepared, take care of yourself and the things you've been given. Your story will find you and won't let go. Then you may wish for some of those everyday moments back again.
